Vikings vs Seahawks
Date: Friday, August 18, 2017
Time: 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET
Venue: CenturyLink Field, Seattle, Washington
The Seattle Seahawks spent the past few days reacting to Michael Bennett’s decision to sit during the national anthem Sunday in their first preseason. The Seahawks are now moving on from the issue as they prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings Friday night (7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET, KPTV-12, NFL Network).
The Seahawks looked very good on both sides of the football in their 48-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in their preseason opener. Backup quarterback Trevone Boykin, wide receiver Kasen Williams opened eyes with several acrobatic receptions and former Oregon star Christian French posted two fumble recoveries.
Coach Pete Carroll says he has talked to Bennett multiple times this week. Wide receiver Doug Baldwin said he was discussing with his coach what the team should do to unify, and to support Bennett in his cause. Carroll and Baldwin both have said they do.
On Wednesday, the Seahawks hosted members of the U.S. Army’s elite 1st Special Forces Group from Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Staff Sergeant Chris Harper of Sacramento, California, was one of the 1st Special Force Group soldiers on the Seattle’s practice field. He knew all about Bennett’s protest.
